My plans this week

ALI Results around Nov 5

PSE EDGE, Oct 26: an analysts' briefing on nine-month results is set for Nov 5. Results can open the price well past your buy or cut-loss line.

Its ₱0.35 dividend came off the price on Oct 28 (paid Nov 13). That explains part of the late-October drop from about ₱16.10, so ₱16.00 is an ambitious target.

BDO Results out Oct 30

PSE EDGE, Oct 30, 1:13 PM: quarterly report filed. Tuesday may move more than usual. It pays ₱1.10 a quarter; the last ex-date was Sep 11 and the next isn't declared yet.

    What it adds up to

    Fill checker

A paper trade only counts if the real price would have filled it. Copy the day's open, high and low from the stock's DragonFi page.

The numbers loaded are a made-up day for ALI.

    What to record

How it decides: a buy fills at your price if the low reached it, or at the open if the day opened below it. If the cut-loss and target were both touched on the same day, it counts the cut-loss. If the day opened past either line, you get the opening price.

    Red-flag scan

Before writing a plan, tick anything that's true. Spotting a red flag is a win: skipping a risky trade protects your pot.

      Resources

Where each answer lives, most trusted first. Check PSE EDGE every evening before writing a plan.

      PSE EDGE

PSE's official site for company announcements. If a company says it, it's posted here first.

      • Type a ticker in the search box at the top right and pick the company.
      • Company Disclosures: every announcement, newest first. Watch for quarterly reports, dividend declarations, analysts' briefings and "Material Information".
      • Dividends and Rights: amounts with ex-date, record date and payment date.
      • Halts and Suspensions (top menu): stocks PSE has paused.
      • ETF (top menu): AETF's daily NAV per share.

      DragonFi

Your broker. Charts and statistics on the web; trading in the mobile app.

      • Stock pages: chart, open/high/low/close, volume and statistics.
      • Market › Stocks, filtered to PSEi: the 30 busiest stocks, your practice list.
      • Market › Market Pulse: PSEi level and market mood.
      • Research tab and the "Before the Bell" morning note.
      • Mobile app: orders and the live buyers and sellers list.

Also yours: the PSE Cheat Sheet and PSE_Trading_Journal.xlsx.

      News and data

If a story isn't confirmed on PSE EDGE, treat it as a rumor. By the time news is in the paper, the price has usually moved.

      Candles

Each candle on a daily chart is one trading day. The thick body runs from open to close; the thin wicks reach the high and low.

      Oct 30
One daily candleA candlestick drawn from the open, high, low and close typed above.

      Green candle

Closed higher than it opened. Buyers pushed the price up during the day.

      Red candle

Closed lower than it opened. Sellers pushed the price down during the day.

      Floors and ceilings

A floor is where buyers keep stepping in; a ceiling is where sellers keep showing up. Swing trades buy near a floor and sell just under a ceiling.

Price bouncing between a floor and a ceilingShaped like ALI in September and October 2026: the price bounces off about 14.70 three times and stalls near 16.10.

Shaped like ALI in Sep–Oct 2026. The levels are real but approximate; the daily line is drawn for teaching.

      How to spot them

      • Find a price where the chart turned at least twice. More touches make a stronger level.
      • Treat it as a zone: ALI's floor is about ₱14.70, not exactly ₱14.70.
      • Round numbers often act as levels, like ₱120 for BDO.
      • A broken ceiling often becomes the new floor, and the other way around.
      • Your cut-loss goes just under the floor. If the floor breaks, the reason for the trade is gone.
      • Check ex-dividend dates: that morning the price drops by about the dividend. ALI's ₱0.35 went ex on Oct 28.
